What is your real age?

31 March 2009 | General Content | Tags: , ,

My Facebook news feed has been spammed over the last few weeks with people finding out what their “real/true” age should be according to an app developed by Quiz Monster. According to the app, I’m supposed to be “14 years old”. I thought it would be interesting to track the most used applications since this is surely up there.

Not surprisingly, it is in the top 5 gainers for the day, including “Where should you be living” and “Who were you in a Past Life”, with “Living Social” - a social discovery tool for sharing media in the top spot:

The top gainers for the week is very similar, The IQ app replacing “Where should you live” to be included in the top 5. See the list below.

It seems that we’re all very interested in determining our biological ages and defying our geography based on a number of random survey questions. But I had a look at the overall application leaderboard and found some interesting results:

Causes was overwhelmingly the most popular application in Facebook,  followed by SuperWall, Top Friends and We’re Related. I’m going to choose to interpret this as such:  that Facebook has the undeniable capacity for social engagement and social mobilisation. Obama knew this, and used it to its fullest. I’d like to think that it can (has), and will continue to contribute to something substantial (like a unified global cause); We also like sharing interesting things with our connections (SuperWall), and friends and family continue to be one of the most important things to us (Top Friends & We’re Related).

Statistics are from AppData.

Ha! You totally are only 14 :P I got 24, which is eerie a little. I know Living Social has been on the rise, I’ve been using a subset of their apps in that Bookshelf/What are you reading application. Interesting how popular Causes is though…
