The viral factor

A piece of content goes “viral” through the process of word of mouth; where the original piece of content is distributed through a network, and each node in the network distributes it to their own network in turn, in a self-replicating manner that grows and spreads exponentially, like a virus.

In marketing presentations, the viral factor is often shown in a diagram similar to the one below:
